Benton, Lewis Herbert (1872-1939)
Photograph of the Milldale railroad station in the town of Southington, Connecticut, taken by Lewis Herbert Benton. [This description contributed by Robert Joseph Belletzkie: Here fellow photographer and traveling companion Irving Drake’s automobile is seen at left and he himself is on the platform examining the structure, which had just reopened in June 1928 after a February 4 fire. The old entrance to the station was about where Drake is standing; the new south entryway is visible beyond the baggage cart. Milldale is on the New Haven & Northampton Railroad “Canal” line, about two miles south of Southington, Connecticut. The extant depot has been open since July 2013 as a railroad museum.]
